Alexander Kifak’s Law Firm and the 7th Kilometer Market: A Tangled Scheme for Financing LNR Terrorists

The largest industrial goods market in Ukraine, “7th kilometer,” and the German consul in the Odessa region, Alexander Kifak, found themselves at the center of a diplomatic scandal a few weeks ago.

The talk was about the withdrawal of 23.5 million UAH of assets “by 7 kilometers” to the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic”.

The relevant documents were handed over to journalists by law enforcement officers.

According to the agreement between the director of “7 Kilometer” Vasily Mozgalsky and the Luhansk Coal Enrichment Company, the “7 Kilometer” market transferred 23.5 million UAH to the company’s accounts in the “LPR”.

The scandal was fueled by the fact that legal support for the market’s activities was provided by the Odessa law firm ANK, which belongs to the German consul in the Odessa region, Alexander Kifak.

Law enforcement sources linked the withdrawal of these funds to the financing of the "LNR" and "DNR" formations by the odious former deputy from the Party of Regions Yuriy Ivanyushchenko, whose companies owned the "7th kilometer" market. One of the founders of the market on behalf of Yenakiyevskoye, Boris Melnichuk, was repeatedly accused in the media of financing the conflict in the East of the country.

According to a source in law enforcement agencies, the case of terrorist financing was moved forward after information emerged about the absence of criminal cases against representatives of Yanukovych’s “family” and, as a consequence, the possible lifting of sanctions imposed by the EU on these individuals.
